STAR PARTIES

Powell Observatory is available year-round for private group reservations.   Reservations may be made for any size group ranging from family get-togethers, birthday parties, anniversaries, church groups, business groups, scout troops, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and all the way to college science and astronomy groups!  All are guaranteed an evening to remember, guided by experienced amateur astronomers for an evening under the stars, looking at the moon, planets, star clusters, and perhaps a distant galaxy. In order to support the public education programs at the observatory, we ask for a reservation fee of $50 and $5 per person for the private evening program.

STAR PARTIES FOR
ASKC MEMBERS ONLY

Many of our club members enjoy getting together to enjoy a star filled night sky and the company of friends. Maybe you are a fairly new ASKC member and need a little help using that new telescope, or just finding your way among the stars to those amazing nebula or galaxies? Whether a novice or expert sky observer, we welcome you to join our monthly star parties for club members!

The location for our Monthly Star Parties will vary, but will generally be within a short drive of the Kansas City area. We will try a variety of locations to serve all our members. Join us and you will learn some handy new observing spots for your personal use too!

Each Monthly Star Party will be hosted by an experienced club member. They will pick the date, location, and sometimes a special theme for extra fun. Usually we will schedule the star parties for a Saturday evening. But sometimes we may choose a Friday night when the moon is right, and there is a press of other activities.
